    Hey guys
Myself and my girlfriend are thinking of heading to London for a few days at the end September/start October.
Being students we are on a fairly tight budget.
Anybody stumbled across a cheap hotel in a good location?

I have never been to London so have no idea of the good areas to go.
Ideally we would like a hotel near a few sights as well as some nice restaurants.
I have been looking on www.accomline.com and found a few possibilities but as i said I don't know what areas would be good to stay in.

We would prefer a room with its own bathroom, not a shared facilities one.

If any of you have stayed in/heard of a hotel that suits our needs please do tell!

    Thanks

Hi OP I was in London last weekend and I had a ball! I won't reccommend the hotel I stayed in tho as it probably wouldn't be suitable for you.

I would however reccommend going on the Big Bus Tour. It is £20pp and the tickets last 24hrs. The buses go to every one of the sights and it is a great way to get around and take photos. Even if you don't want to go into the particular sight you can hop back on the bus and head off, its also a great way to get to know the city.

I am pretty sure they have student prices too so you should be ok in that sense. I really can't reccommend it enough, it was so handy and great fun!!!

Also I will advise you to get up v early if you are thinking of going to see something like the London Eye, Harrods, otherwise the queues can become quite large.

Have a great time OP, I wish I was going back :(

London hotels aren't cheap! Check out Citadines or Travelodge but expect to pay around GBP90 per night. Citadines is good if you're on a budget as they are mini-apartments which have cooking facilities which can save quite a bit on food costs.

If your looking for something different to do while in London then check out the Globe theatre, open air shows, completely wooden building, fantastic atmosphere and situated right on the South Bank next to the Tate Modern. They have 700 x £5 tickets for every performance, well worth a look IMO.

Thanks a million for all the replies.

Will definitely look into the bus tour. I'm not really a theatre person so the Globe might not feature in my plans, but sure you know yourselves: What the lady wants...!

    Thanks again

The street entertainment in Covent Gardens is also good fun too.

The best way to book hotels in London is through Priceline. I use them all the time and pay on average £60 a night for very central 4* hotels - eg. Holiday Inn Mayfair just a short walk from Piccadilly. Only drawback is you pay up front by credit card and cannot get your money back if you have to cancel.

Don't miss St Paul's Cathedral and be sure to climb all the way to the top - great view.
