When I open my local disk (C:), I see these strange files. I can click on them and open them, but I just think it is strange. Could they possibly be a virus? I am running avast at the moment. What are they? Are they important. I have never seen them before on any of my other previous computers. It is really starting to bug me.

Sorry that the pic is small, but if you look closely you can see that the folders are lighter in colour than the normal ones.

Nope they are just hidden files, the best I can tell anyway. If you want to hide them from view go to My Computer->Tools->Folder Options and click the View Tab. Then select "Do not show hidden files or folders".

These are hidden folders. Your system has loads of them. Some windows folders are hidden. Click tools, folderoptions, view, do not show hidden folders. Its a good way of hiding folders from people who dont know about it. just right click any folder, properties and select hidden. You'll have to go through the reverse of what i said above to show them again or do a search.

    Edit: Ruu got ere 1st.
