Any remember this on RTE? Arthur Murphy used to host it, probably RIP by now. Good show though. Now there a place you could send in your letter and complain about ANYTHING you wanted without the fear of being sued. Bring it back I say! :)

Arthur Murphy is still alive and kicking, and hasn't aged a bit. He appeared on The Blizzard of Odd last year, in a spoof of Mailbag. If I remember correctly, there was a Mailbag-style programme on RTÉ1 a few years ago, presented by John Creedon.

Bloody hell, thought he was long gone! The old biddies have no outlet for their complaints now. :(

Yep I saw the Blizzard moment, I thought I was dreaming.

I had a letter read out once - can't recall what I was moaning about though :)

    Mike.

    Great show.

I emailed RTE asking were they considering releasing season box sets of Mailbag on DVD but they never responded.

    No,

Season box sets are the only way to go for Mailbag.

A compilation of the best episodes will be unacceptable.

We had rashers, sausages and chips :D

I got "Letter of the Week" one week...I was giving out to Arthur for wearing silly hats (Sorry Arthur!) and then it showed him wearing a dunce cap. I got £30 for the letter, which was a lot for a 12 year old back then :)

I thought he was a little bit bitter rather than confused. It's a pity his show got axed. It was cheap television of a Saturday evening and it was great fun listening to people getting upset over things like the Cadbury's chocolate ad (woman in ad hadn't got a wedding ring - was she living in sin with the man who came home to her at the end of the ad?) and nudity in those boring European films RTE2 used to show back in the 80s.
