Hanatarex MTC 9000 Issue, dead or not dead?

Got my arcade cab sort on turning on

When powered the monitor flashes in all corners then nothing........

Sometimes i get sound sometimes i dont.

Obviously something is not right , have Game pluged into Adapter everything seems to be connected.

Afaik it doesnt work but im just having a look see to see what is and isnt working, sound seems ok.


Some questions.

How do i lower the sound?

Its Street fighter 2 cab with above monitor and original Sf2 game.


Bit dirty but cleaning it up now.

You need to buy some PCB cleaner. Spray it on and clean the board fully with a cloth (a smooth one, like a shammy). Im assuming the board has 2 (or 3) layers to it so seperate it and clean the entire thing. Then remove all the ROM chips that can be removed (the ones that are just clipped in, not soldered). Remove them one by one, cleaning each one really well with the PCB cleaner, making sure not to bend the pins as you clean them. When the board is fully cleaned (it should take you about 40 mins to do a good job) then connect the game to the JAMMA harness, making sure its the right way round. You will know because the pins are numbered from 1 to 24 (i think its 24 anyway). After all this, turn the machine on and it should be fine. The volume on most PCB's is a small white plastic control in one of the corners. It should be about 8mm in diameter. Just turn that to adjust the sound.
If after all this its still not right, then the monitor could be screwed or else one of the RAM/ROM chips on the PCB is. If the monitor is displaying fine, you should see a RAM/ROM test when the game 1st loads. This will show any 'bad' chips on the PCB. Not all games will do this but there should be a test button on the PCB that you can hold down to get it to do a RAM/ROM check on startup. I'm sick of typing, so ill stop now

Thanks i know the Sf2 rom check off by heart at this stage but havent seen it on my own one.

Will have another bash at it saturday but i think its buggered.

I raise this post from the dead with a purpose :eek:

This cabinet donated by Ronan to me in 2006 has set in my garage since and im fairly ****ing sure i tried turning it maybe twice after the original post. It needs or needed a capactior which was 2 quid or someting.


Free to anyone who cares to pick it up in D22. Needs a lot of TLC has been sitting in my garage since The Rom is original tho.

Its not a dedicated cab, it has 6 buttons on each side but is not an official cab.

the rom is 100% official tho.

Will post pics in morning, same as ronan did when he offered his collection up 1st person to post/collect gets it. you will need a van tbh

Enternow seriously making this work again is a hobby ie dont expect to collect it and go home and play Sf2 in all its arcade glory. It needs work your choices are:

Fix capacitor on hanatrex €2 and a **** load of electrical knowledge.

Replace with 21"tv €20 for rgb connector,tv must be skinned of its casing. But if you do that a decent PC with Mame would be an option.

prolly clean and fix the base of it chipboard does not age well.

Ive some experience with Hantarex boards (Polo), but would love a new project to get my teeth into, as Im just wrapping up my mame cab now.

Seen as o1s1n posted first this is his call being the gent he is, but if he doesnt take it Ill def take it. Just let me know where the cab is and when is convenient for you.
