Park Live Racist Sketch

Park Live - Political Correctness gone mad or racist? The Herald have seemed to have taken a shine to the story. Rosanna Flynn (aka Residents against Racism) is particularly vexed (she is the same one who rowed in behind the hunger strikers, so i'd take her comments with a pinch of salt  ) Personally, I think the sketch was perhaps done in bad taste but lets take a step back, should it be seen as racist or should we take it for what it is, a comedy sketch?

I missed this, got a clip by any chance? Or want to sum up what happened/what the sketch was about for all those who didn't happen to see it?

Reportedly it featured an African hurling player in a cage at the zoo or something to that effect.

I'm not going to give an opinion one way or the other as I haven't seen the sketch and I'm not the 'jump on the bandwagon' type.

Too many people condemn stuff that they haven't actually seen themselves.

Any clips of the sketch or transcripts of it would be appreciated.

TBH you would really have to read the herald, but to give the gist Niall Delemere (of the Panel fame) does a sketch every week called the Fitzgibbon report. This week he was interviewing a black hurler called Daniel at Dublin Zoo, there was also a bit about Bobo the tiger and a comment about how he came to ireland and a comparsion to how Daniel came to ireland "not in a crate, but on a plane". Danial was also asked did he play hurling different to Irish people. There was other bits in the show about Dublin and a piss take on the Galway Mayo Roscommon tourism ad. Now if you were a dub you could be offended by that to but TBH a lot of it was in jest

That sketch was taking the piss out of the Irish, particularly the ignorant ones who think every black person comes from the jungle. A whole hub-bub about nothing, the only racism involved was against the Irish and culchies !

Now where do I get in contact with "Dubs against Racism" after the sketch lampooning "The West's Alive" ad capaign involving Dublin. As a Dub I'm particularly upset with lines such as "Not until you're have a syringe held to your throat" or "Not until you've shopped in Unique "......

Only the recipe of The Herald and Residents Against Racism will come up with a story completely way of the mark, yer wan Rosanna Flynn didn't even see the sketch and the reporter needs a satire transplant.

Didn't even see the sketch? How come when there's uproar over things like this a lot of people who are most outraged haven't even seen what they're complaining about.

She was either being setup by the reporter or else the Herald had very little to write about and wanted to blow the whole thing out of proportion, probably a bit of both.

In fairness, I laughed at the sketch.I thought that the dublin and midland ads were very well done.In fairness to Neil Delamere, Dublin is the place you are most likely attacked with a syringe in the Republic.

I saw it and didn't find it racist at all, PC gone mad, thought the mock-up of the tourist ads were great too

I didn't think it was racist at all, unlessyou want to argue that it was racist against Irish people. Didn't think it was funny but wasn't racist at all. Anybody who was offended by it must be really determined to be offended.
