does anyone know if sky sports on ntl cable (analogue) is the closest to live?

i suspect sky digital and ntl digital are perhaps 2-3 seconds delayed compared to the analogue signal

does anyone know anything about this?

reason i ask is i like to listen to radion commentary during matches, and as radio is always practically perfectly live (no delay) it can be annoying watching a delayed picture on the TV if the radio commentator is 3 seconds ahead

All the channels on ntl: digital are a second or two behind the equivalent channels on ntl: analogue. It's all down to the delay in the encoding process.

  • i was watching the World Cup Final in a pub in Bordeaux. and the pub had 8 screens, 6 inside which were clearly digital, and 2 outside which were hooked up to an analouge source..

The tv's outside were about 3 seconds ahead, prompting everyone to pile out of the pub onto the street for the penalties.

thought i could still get sky sports on analogue, maybe not

what about sky sports on sky digital vs sky sports on ntl digital - any idea if the pictures are delayed by the same amount or is one ahead of the other?
