Loadsa experience.Im so deperate to be with a girl that I resort to internet sites because I can't chat a girl up in real life.

To men using this:Grow a pair of balls.

From the article, plenty lads there that can chat them up, but these sites cut out the bull - dates/flowers/dinner and straight down to getting jiggy...wouldn't be into this myself, but just curious if anyone had any experiences...I still prefer to go chasing in the old fashioned sense...

it sounds very wierd to me, the internet being the place for weirdos to hide and people are meeting and matching for sex?

where does this take place like? what site? Dont personally think i could trust somebody i have spoken in email to a few times.

Here's the thing...whether they work or not or whether they are right or wrong. In some cases this is all two people may be interested in. You don't have to be a freak(m or F). Personnally I think going out to a pub/club and spending 4-8 hours and who knows how much money is worse. And thats just one night. It may take multiple nights for you to actually get your chat on, get comfortable with someone and then get funky with them.

As for them working or not...I have never heard someone say one of these type of sites has worked for them. Have heard people actually have success on Myspace, Bebo or other sites. My gut instinct is that it is either "pay for it" people or not the most desirable. I could be wrong. Maybe we can all chip in a few quid for the OP to go give one a try and come back with a REAL/Factual report. I'll pony up a tenner.

Yeah, but haven't people heard of f8ck buddies? Who in their right mind would just hook up with someone and get down to business five minutes after shaking hands???

i know a couple of people who have met people off the likes of match.com... i don't see the problem, like people said, it cuts out the bull****!!!

I find that when people are appalled at the idea of dating sites is that we assume anyone we're in contact with on the 'net is some kind of deviant, whereas anyone you meet in person is obviously honest, and upfront about themselves. I don't see why one or the other setting should be considered superior.

I do both, and there's pros and cons in either case. Meeting people in clubs and places can be a major pain in the @ss. As a guy that's a personal pet peeve since I find you're expected to do the work. Moreover if I'm heading out I'm heading out for a laugh and a few brews, I'm not always interested in heading on the prowl. If I am in the mood to meet someone I'd prefer to be doing it at a party.

As regards meeting people on the 'net. It can be way handier than trying to wade through all the usual BS and social crap. I think the problem is when people take it waaayyy too seriously, in their heads a full-on relationship is tkaing place just because they've exchanged a few e-mails with someone. And te other obvious problem is the people who are outright liars and dviants, but you get those in the real world too, you need to exercise some discretion in either setting.

And the thing is, why do we automatically assume that someon is trustworthy when we meet them? Just because someone tells you they're a doctor/lawlyer/gas pump attendent doesn't make it true, whether you're talking to someone on the 'net or in person there's a certain "leap of faith" required, u have to assume that at least SOME of what you're being told is true.

So I guess what I'm saying is it takes all sorts.

I don't see how it's any more dodgy than going home with someone you met in a club just 3 hours ago.

Couple of love scammers on there, three at least.

Craigslist was always a fraud hotspot.

I always read the personal ads in the paper, out of curiousity over things like

"Female, 20, blue eyes, long blonde hair, slim, seeks......"

Its at that point I stop and think shes either an obese ginger or else shes telling the truth about her looks but is a complete and utter nutbar psychologically. Cute blondies in their early 20s do not need the help of a newspaper without some hidden reason.

 - Isnt that what practically happens at Pubs up and down the country on Friday and Saturday nights ???

Sounds like double standards. . theres really (when you think about it) no big difference between shagging someone you met on the internet as opposed to someone you met after 10 pints at the Pub ???

Or after talking to them in the pub after the pints - is that getting to 'know' them Properly ?

    .

When I see the word 'slim' I am immediately repulsed.

Slim = thin, skinny, skeletal, flat-chested, no curves. Horrible.
