IVVCC club run 23rd July problem?

    Just looking for opinions...

I saw a post here for the IVVCC club run on 23rd of July to Ardgillan House. I thought that it'd be a nice run and decided that I'd go. It was limited to 50 cars and I was a bit late sending off the application (sent 6th July, probably two weeks after the post) but I took a chance. I heard nothing back so I assumed that I'd left it too late. I live in Kildare so I decided against turning up on spec. My cheque was cashed today.

Am I being unreasonable to think that I should have been told that I could turn up, especially as it was limited to 50 cars? I know that these things are run on a voluntary basis but an email to confirm or even advice to phone an organiser to confirm beforehand would have saved me the disappointment of missing something that I should have apparently know to turn up to...

    What do you think?

We were out in Ardgillian house that day (in the C5 not the SM) and there wasn't 50 cars, probably closer to 20. So there would have been room for you. And there were no Spitfires!

That's a pity - it was one of the few days this summer when I was free, the car was on the road and washed and the wife was very keen to go on a run. Its hard to get all these things to occur at the same time:)

Are you a member of the IVVCC ?

Not that that makes a difference............you should get a refund, but I was just curious if non members could go on these events ?

    Hi,

I'm not a member of the IVVCC - I think that an invitation was posted here but I can't find it now. Can't figure out where else I'd have heard about it. If it was a membership issue I'd expect them to have returned the cheque. I normally wouldn't consider turning up to an event if I thought that it was for members only.

I've mailed Joe Geoghegan (the organiser) about it so we'll see what happens.

Anyway, I'll console myself with a trip to the Blessington show on Sunday week, I'd planned to go to Inistiogue but as usual events have conspired...
