WMP 10 is it? Have you tried uninstalling it from Add/Remove Programs and re-installing it? (perhaps there is a repair feature in the uninstall, im not sure)

Check there already and it is not listed in ADD/REMOVE programs?

    strange

Opps forgot about that, go into Add/Remove Windows Components and untick Windows Media Player.

Download it from here, reinstall and see, probably restart and see if it makes any difference.

Try installing WMP11 and see if the corrects it.

Or if you don't want to do that have you downloaded all the updates for WMP from Windows Update ?

Make sure to create a restore point with System Restore before installing WMP 11, theres no way of uninstalling it otherwise.

The amount of times I've tried that, unfortunately rarely works. :)
