The mobo is just a place holder, thats what I'm willing to spend. Can I get something better for less or just save some money somewhere?

I wouldn't knock that motherboard too much. For the price it's a good board and a good performer from what I've being reading. I've ordered this board from Komplett and it will be the base of my Core2Duo setup. I've no need for SLI/Crossfire so it has everything I need and then some.
The rest of the components look good too.

Had to check this post for the catchy topic title alone,nice setup it would seem,I found the 250gb hdd seems a bit prciey even with 16mb cache....?we got one at work (300GB 16mb cache) it was 90 inc. vat I think from our suppliers.just an observation...nice setup tho'!

Good stuff, I'll be ordering in the last week of August or the first week of September. There might be new mobo's out by then so my choice isn't concrete.

I was moving between Hitachi and WD for the HD, would you recommend an alternative instead of the above?

nice build.. but just to say if your wanting the conroe you will be still waiting a good while if ording from komplett... they said they would have 171 in stock by 21/8/06... today its only 60... id order from ocuk... they have them in stock and shipping only takes 3/4 days

I'll see who has stock when the time comes as I won't be ordering until I finish work and can recieve the packages at the end of the month/start of next month.

Looks good. Just make sure you google each item to see if you can find them any cheaper. All stores charge for bulk delivery so it doesn't pay to buy single items and pay for delivery.

I would prob get 2G of ram instead of 1 esp if your gonna play BF2/Fear/Oblivion or the like and its only another €70 or so
