Has anyone stayed here before? If so how was it?
Booking a trip to vegas with Tour America and this is the hotel offered.
Checked tripadvisor.com and the ratings arent great.

Its one of the less exclusive hotels on the strip but i stayed in stratosphere before and that was fantastic and it wouldnt be one of the bigger ones - probably on a similar price scale to Circus Circus.

Going back again in a month but stil have to book accom! Eek! I must get on that.

It's not bad, rooms are clean, well serviced, fairly large and as good as your average hotel in Ireland. The worst about it is the location it's about a mile down the strip from the main casino's like the Bellagio etc so there's a longish walk or taxi required. The casino in Circus Circus is alot older and has a run down feel compared to elsewhere on the strip but no matter what hotel you goto you are unlikely to remain in the casino of the hotel you are staying in.

I stayed there for a night, it is a bit of a dump. Room had a very stale smell offf it and it has the worst buffet restaurant ever! Try Excaliber - better location, prob in the same price region. See www.tripadvisor.com for reviews of hotels. Tues - Thurs are cheapest nights to stay in Vegas as all the Americans come and party over the weekends.

Have you looked at booking it yourself. Trailfinders are good for getting good prices on flights, they also do the hotels but you can sometimes get better deals dealing directly with the hotels.

If you look at Trip Advisors list and see what gets good reviews and go to their sites directly and see what offers they have. If you register with the hotels they email out their specials usually with a fair bit of availability. I get emails every other week. You could book the Venetian for the same price as something like the Burlington here.

    Have fun

    Cheers for the replies.
We have it booked as a package so there isnt any choice with the hotel. Sure we will give it a go anyway!
Do any of you know how much it costs to go to the grand canyon or hoover dam from vegas?

Went to California, Los Angeles, San Diego, San Fransisco and Vegas last year in October.

I loved it all and cant wait to go back in a few years

Wife wouldnt get on helicopter so didnt go to Grand Canyon

Costs approx 150-200 USD per person for 3 hour round trip via helicopter

Alternative is to hire a car (cheap , circa € 40 USD per day) and drive there
Its a 5 hour drive so if you get up early its not bad (leave at 7 there by noon, stay til 4 or 5, back at 9 or 10)

I didnt do it as I had driven the 9 hour drive from San Fran and wanted to spend my 4 days in the casinos!!!

Sorry I missed the Hoover Dam bit

It is only about an hour or two away by bus and lots of bus trips to be had to it

    Me again
My wife and I booked everything ourselves.

Total for 2 weeks, incl Car hire , day at Universal studios, all accomadation , food etc etc worked out at about € 4K in total for the two of us.

We stayed in reasonable accomadation (3*) for about 100-120 USD per night and in Vegas v good accomadation (3 different on 4 nights , Luxor, New York New York and Mandalay Bay, of € 120-150 USD per room per night). We ate Pizzas, burgers, pub food etc but thats what we eat on hols anyway.

Went to see Celine Dion who is resident 5 nights a week in Ceasers Palace (USD 120 each for tickets but well worth it, stage set up and acoustics were brilliant ever though Im not a great fan (wife is)

I have driven all of Europe and in Canada previously but found California and Nevada driving a doddle (they are fairly courteous on the road but keep the speed down and the roads are great (I 5 highway has 5 lanes each way and Pacific Coast Road from La to San Fran is single lane with beautiful views of Ocean (Carmel and Monterrey Bay and 17 Mile drive on way to San Fran are beautiful)

I'm going to Vegas in September and have booked the hotel and the flights. Was wondering if we need to book tickets for shows/clubs in advance? I've seen a lot of stuff on sale on the internet, but as we're not sure what we'll be doing/want to do while we're there was kind've hoping to just see whats available when we get there... are we likely to be disappointed if we wait and find out tickets for everything are sold out? (There's a group of 4 of us going, with another group of about 8).
