Here, what's this about some big Apple event on the 7th? Possibly MacBook Pro related?

Leopard, Intel PowerMac's and possbily and iPhone or next gen of iPod; that said I don't think either of the later will be on the market soon (and Apple don't really show off new HW until it's ready or nearly ready...

    Ehhhhh, yeah.
I love the fact that everything is shrouded in secrecy, but no, hughchal says "no". So it can't be.

The event being held on the 7th is the Keynote speech of Apple's Worldwide Developer's Conference. It has already been confirmed by Apple that Leopard will be shown by Steve Jobs during the keynote.

Aside from that, noone knows for definite what else will be announced. There's plenty of speculation on the internet, as always. The most probable announcment is a range of Intel-based Power Mac replacements, but I'm sure there will be other bits and bobs too.

Langer. As they say in Cork.

They will release a Leopard Preview build to developers at WWDC but I suspect that a retail version is a long way off. Most apologetic if I misunderstood your "Definitley Leopard" claim.

Now that would be good. Although I would have thought they'd be better off getting their intel desktop machines sorted (other than minis and iMacs).

I think they'll have the newer MBPs and MBs. New processor and new chassis maybe, I remember reading a report on this(somewhere:) )

I'd be very, very surprised if they don't launch the Mc Pro at it really.

Apple seem to be branching out. D'ya thing th iMicrowave will be about too?

If they're announced, they won't really be shipping for at least 3-4 weeks, as Intel isn't making enough Core 2 Duo's yet.

Was hoping for updates to macbook and imac but nothing. Just announcing the macpro.

Anyone speculate on whether other updates are to follow? Thinking about upgrading but if there's a change coming for macbook i don;t want to get it and have it upgraded a month later.

Don't tell anyone that I told you but...
There's gonna be a special event in September/October which will include updates to the iPod Nano, the announcement of a new iPod with widescreen (shipping in November), also the iMac & Macbook Pro will move to Core 2 Duo processors.

This event was the WWDC 2006 in San Francisco, and this year it was the biggest ever. WWDC = Worldwide Developer Conference.

The Jobsnote (which is named after Steve Jobs) revealed the first looks on Leopard, Apple's next major upgrade to the OS X systems. It will be version 10.5. It probably is released in spring next year. During the Jobsnote he and important colleagues of him revealed impressive features of Leopard, such as "Time Machine", the new "iChat" and "Core Animation". Leopard comes as only one version for everything - for PowerPC's and Intel's, no matter if 32-bit or 64-bit. It was revealed that the system supports 64-bit, top to bottom, in all frameworks (Carbon and Cocoa).

Details about the transition from PowerPC to Intel were revealed, how fast it was going. The transition only required 217 days, from when the first Intel Mac was announced (the first Mac to go Intel was the iMac by the way).

Alongside the preview of Leopard, Apple announced the new Mac Pro, which is gonna supercede the PowerMac, so that G5 machine is gone for good. Also, XCode 3 was announced, which makes it even more easier to build applications. With Leopard's 64-bit native support, you can take advantage of this and build 64-bit universal applications.

The next WWDC will also probably be held in San Francisco. However, the next big event will be the MacWorld, where other new products are likely to be announced.
