Ok i used to watch this on a sunday morn last year & was fine hangover viewing then it moved to wednesday primetime viewing( exactly what gaa fans want!) but my god it make fair city look interesting!!!
theres laid back and then theres park live! and what is it about bringin on players, quizzing them for about4 mins before moving on, and 3minutes of that questioning is spent watching the player cringe as they are discussing a horrific incident from theyre past.
last night it was brendan devanny on his pushing of the ref, few weeks back they had paul brady world champion handballer by the way briefly mentioned in the interview, then focused on his sending off against tyrone, absolute shocking producing or direction!!

I thought it looked like an interesting program having never seen it before. I was wrong. I couldnt sit through a full program. Its on at the wrong time. It looks like its aimed at kids. Or is it?

    In a word - yes.

They should bring back Breaking Ball. It was a great show. RTE are trying to do a GAA version of Soccer AM and failing miserably.

And Soccer AM is bad enough! I agree with Lemlin they should bring back breaking ball!

Something does not feel right about agreeing with Lemlin ;):p

They have good features on it, like player interviews, but they are badly managed. Some of the rest of it is awful, like the GAADAQ. It is on during adult viewing hours, but it is more like a show aimed at teenagers or even children. Anyway, the real show is in Croke Park this weekend. On both Saturday and Sunday I will be in Croke Park, live!:)

Neither presenter is good. The female one would drive you mad, it's like she's presenting a kids programme. Ger Gilroy just does not seem to have any personality. And its kind of hard to hear what he's saying, he doesn't open his mouth much when he talks. I just want to shave that little smig of his!

The skills challenge is cringe-inducing.The players always look a bit uncomfortable.

My thoughts exactly. Breaking Ball had in-sightful interviews and interesting side-stories to the up-coming matches.

This Park Live thing is utter rubbish and, as mentioned earlier, looks like it is aimed at young children. The blonde one that is "presenting" it is terrible while the idea of showing old films, like that crap 'Three Kisses', is more confusing and time-filling than anything else.

Typical RTÉ though, they cancel a great show like Breaking Ball and put on this drivel instead.

yeah breaking ball all the way,let the players or whoever the features are about do the talking! agreed with the "three kisses" muck, its like they are only introducing the guests then they have to veer off and show this cack.will such and such score with mary,i dont kno and i dont care!!!

there is an audience for an hour long show of the standard of breaking ball, this show is so pathetic that i can see rte say something like "well we tried to target an audience with a gaa show but the viewing numbers werent there"

Let TG4 do it, even if its in irish with english subtitles, theyre sports shows are usually focused on what counts!

Agreed I tend to watch it through my fingers too many cringe-inducing moments! TG4 would def do a better show. Even BBC NI had a 1/2 hour show which was much more interesting. Bring back Breaking Ball.

Reading in the Herald tonight, its not in croker anymore since the done a "black Man in the zoo" skit, which basically, racially implied that all black people were coming to Ireland in crates.

Silly RTE, thought they could do sports comedy!!:D

Agree with everybody here this show is utter rubbish. Where did this gilroy come from? Off the street or the classroom. Breaking ball was far superior, so was UTV's End to End programme

Terrible showa and very low budget.
To make matters worse they repeat it on a Friday night.
    Bring back Breaking Ball.

when Newstalk goes national this autumn you have the joy of being able to listen to him nightly,
agreed on his apalling lack of talent and the disgraceful african "sketch"/slur it wasn't funny, and i wouldn't exactly be the first person to jump to an africans defence, i normally wouldn't be arsed, but it was stupid and the "you haven't lived til you've pissed on a street in temple bar, thrown up outside a disco or thrown a shopping trolley in the canal" sketch about dublin was rubbish, real comedy genius to fall back on 80's steroetypes. if this is the best RTE can do with sports i'm delighted that apres match were left to their own devices.
please RTE get some people who are actually interested in GAA to do the show. FFS Park live is absolute trash:mad:

Should change the thread title to "worst show ever". Really annoying when RTE continues pushing talentless individuals then again if Pat Kenny is the benchmark its no wonder.

    :D:D

One of the ways this show frusts me is in the player/guest interviews. I remember a few weeks ago Gilroy was interviewing Eoin Kelly (Tipp). The discussion was about Tipp and "the current state of hurling". Then Kelly was just about to give his opinion on the current format (or structure) of the championship when Gilroy stops him to hand over to the blonde one (Sorry, don't know her name) to do that skills crap. Just when we might get an insight into what some of the players were thinking on the championship, they stop him to have that sh1t on. Poor management, thy name is Park Live. No wonder I watch the Laochra Gael series on TG4 instead (Even if they are repeated).

I suppose the only way they could make it worse is if they gave the presenting job to Des Cahill who would keep harping on about how Clare won the All-Ireland in 1995.

Its a rip of Soccer AM. But the big difference is that top GAA players are extremely focused, driven individuals who are...boring and are therefore not suited to this style of show. It certainly is not a mid week show.

Anyone record this by any chance ?

They usually do a repeat on Friday night. It is at 11:15pm. They had an interview with Brian Mullins. Other guests included Paul Flynn of Waterford and PJ Delaney of Kilkenny.

Utter bullsh*t there, gerire, to be honest.

In that skit there was one articulate, well-spoken guy and there was an eejit with obtusely ignorant views. It was obviously a satire on Irish people's views. Whether we think it was funny or not is one thing, but none of us can really suggest it's racist and hold a straight face like. The black guy was clearly in on it, wouldn't be a bit surprised if he was paid!

And as far as I can tell it's always been in Croker.
