Some pics of the new classic controller for the Wii

    HERE

The thing I have to say about it is that the button on the top of the controller(beside the right trigger) could be uncomfortable to press.
    Maybe....

I think it looks nice and simple.

I hope it comes in a wireless flavour too.

I wonder will it just be a wiimote and nunchuck bundled with the console - or will this one come with it too?

that could be the equivilent of the menu button on the x-360...no wait there's a little star button in the middle, that must be the launch button.

really depends on what that button does.

sure it had ports for gamecube controllers why would it use the classic controller? i think instead of a classic controller they should of just used the gamecube controller

like come on a console with 3 controllers a bit much

plus i can't imagine it being easy to play a N64 game with that

It looks a bit "thick" if you know what I mean. Would prefer if it mimicked the size of an old SNES controller but that's probably impossible with analog inside.

I hope they realease hardware that lets you use old controllers on the new system. The SNES controller was genuinely the best for playing SF II and for old school NES games I'd really like to use the NES pad again. This could be redundant though, you can never tell how well a pad will work until you have it, and some games, in your hand.

Looking at the third photograph Earthhorse, it doesn't look too thick... maybe a few shades off the SNES controller but not nearly 'really thick'.

1Huge1: if they arent allowing the usage of older pads and only Gamecube and these two on the system, this 'classic' controller could be a lot easier to use with older games than the regular Gamecube pad.

Although i still stand by turning the Wiimote on its side so it resembles a NES pad.

Not everyone owns a gamecube. And if they continued to sell gamecube controllers marketting them as Wii controllers they just wouldn't be in line with the style of the rest of the console.

I figure this and gamecube pads will be completely interchangeable, so you can use whichever one you want, if you already have gamecube pads then you won't need to buy this.

    That's my guess at least.

I'd say (and I hope) it will happen; although the wiimote itself is a nes controller, but it would be cool to play SNES and N64 games on the original controllers too, would be cool if they made adaptors for certain nerd who still had the originals :D

I must be missing something but what's that button thingey in the middle for? The one he's pressing in the last picture in the first post (beside the nipple)

it looks like you can attach it to something on the back (see two long openings) and that button releases the control from it. (as you can see a piece of plastic being pressed down in the top opening).

My guess is they cant make this controller gyro-synced (or whatever you call it) so for games that combine the two control methods. (say the new zelda, or mario) You might be able to attach the wii-remote to the bottom and it works in the same function as it does on its own except now with a more traditional control feel.

Which if my guess is anyway accurate...i am a very happy bunny, i have tried sitting at my tv pretending my remote is the controller and i have never felt comfortable with it...but if i can have the traditional two hand grasp and still wireless controller....BRING ON NEW STAR FOX!

might be; I don't like the way this controller attaches to the Wiimote rather than the actual Wii or even just wirelessly to something; maybe it's somewhere to clip your wiimote so it isn't flying around the place as you swing your pad around and I'm sure it could add motion sensitivity as a result.

THere are two mounting slots on the back. I imagine it comes with a cradle that you clip in so the Wiimote cany piggy back below?

Like sticking two transfomers together. If they can make use of the gyroscopic sensors on the wiimote while connected to the pad, that would be cool.

    It looks pretty good.
Does it connect to the console or the remote?
