    ok i have this ram

and want to add another gig of ram but don't want to spend 200 quid on it

would be advisable to put say this ram along with it

or should i put just the exact same ram with it....?

Hmm looks like what you picked should be okay with each other.

    the ocz timings are 2-2-2-5

    the ballistix is 2-2-2-6

make much difference tis kinda thing?

Actually I think those a meant to be equal but I don't quite understand memory timing. Maybe someone else can verify this.

well they're both pc 3200 ddr dimm 184 400mhz and will work with each other but i'm wondering is if my uber ocz ram will be slowed(if so by much?) with the introduction of the ballistix ram

can't you just try running the crucial ram at the OCZ timings? maybe look up an OC'ing review on them and see what kind of timings and clocks people are getting with them. When you mix and match different DIMMs is the only slowdown that the actual BIOS settings get changed? I'm like Ruu, i'd like to know what difference the timings make.

Steve, yes, your ram will be slowed to match the speed of the other module.

To add, it's going to make FA difference anyway.

i will try matching the modules alright.....the latency timings are something to do with memory cycles retrieving data that the cpu waits for....ahhh
