Live tournie, 100/200 blinds. 9 players
UTG+4 limps. I've KK in UTG+5 and raise to 800 preflop.
BB calls, limper calls, 3 to the flop (all with 15k stacks), pot 2500.
    BB fairly ABC, UTG+4 muppet.

    Flop come Q,9,2 rainbow.
BB checks, mid pos limper checks.
Thought one could easily be playing J,10 so to chase out the draws I raise 3000.
BB reraises Allin! mid pos folds.
    What's your move??

Call (and I'd make it at least 1000 to go PF)

    I call.

If he's fast playing a set or two pair good luck to him. This could be a check raise all-in with a draw or KQ/AQ a lot of the time so on balance unless the guy is very tight or I've got some other info I cal.

No need to bet anywhere close to 3000 on the flop.

I call, but he prolly has a set (given that you posted the hand).

Im not sure about betting 3k into a 2.5k pot, you might as well go allin. I would prefer to bet 1.5k and then you will have all the info you need.

So he has check raised you allin. Without any info any additional this player i would call

He might have a set of 9s based on the preflop call. I think he would have reraised with Queens

Dont see how you can fold here.Like the other posters say,its all read dependant now, but unless ive seen villian to be the rockiest rock,I have to call. Not so sure he has a set though, why would he want to chase you away? Maybe he slowplayed aces.Still,Im getting all my chips in here.

I wld fold not riskin my tournie with an overpair ... the raise was not that big pre flop so limpers could hit anything

I would have to think a set or two pair here m8........
    M8
WHERE WAS THE TOURNIE ALAN/ WHO WAS DEALIN

Unless, I have a read otherwise I think I call, AQ, KQ are possibilties, along with underpairs, I think the rang is wide enough to justify a call.

Standard enough call. Great flop for kings. Like the others said, pf raise is a bit small, and your flop bet is too big; I dont think you have to chase out draws, just bet enough so that they're making a mistake in calling you.

Some reads on the villain would be nice, is he the type of player who feels he has to protect his monster hands by massively overbetting?

Your big bet screams that you don't want someone calling on a draw. This means you probably have top pair good kicker or an overpair. Villian might have pushed reading this knowing it would be hard to lay down.
But then again most villains are idiots and I'd call, you're ahead enough of the time of make it profitable.

    Pf I'd raise to 1000+
On flop I'd bet about 1.5k

Almost all the players I know(mediocre TBH) would play AQ and perhaps KQ like the villian did.

I'm not a good person to be dishing out adivce but it's always a call for me.

Q9 surely wouldn't be around and QQ probably would have raised more preflop to find out where they were as it's a horrible hand to play out of position.

9's are possible and seeing as you're scaring off draws he may figure to have you beat but then I dunno if he'd play it so fast.

I did make the call and he did have pocket queens.
 Really annoyed afterwards as I thought I had a read and I thought I was beat. But talked myself into making the call hoping he had AQ.
Felt I should have been able to lay it down. Suppose need to learn to trust my instincts.
However as said I suppose in the long run it's probably a profitable call.
