    Hey,

Just wondering if it was legal to drive using an iPod with earphones in? Similar to some handsfree mobile kits? Not really sure with this new mobile law in place!

Whether or not it's legal, it certainly IS NOT SMART. Driving with that kind of auditory isolation is extremely dangerous, not only because you mightn't hear other drivers warning you (horns, sirens etc) but also because your world perception is changed radically under medium-to-high volume.

    DO NOT DO IT!

As stated above, doesnt exactly sound the safest, why not just listen to the radio or get the wire to connect the iPod to thee car stereo - avoids the chance that it is illegal too

It's not even safe for pedestrians to listen to iPods or any music systems that use headphones where there's no footpath. I can't count the amount of near misses I've had with pedestrians because they haven't heard my car coming around the bend.

Yeah thats right. I had a cousin who used to do that. Very foolish fella. But as stated above, it is very dangerous driving while listening to your ipod. But saying that, believe it or not, I seen a Dublin Bus employee driving a bus listening to his Ipod or mp3. The best thing to do would be to get an Itrip and install it in your car. Don't think they cost that much. You can get different ones. Seen one here in Navan for about €20. Good value, might save you more money if you crash listening to your ipod with your headphones.
