Can anyone recommend a good day out for my boyfriend... He is into cars and always wanted to rally a car himself.

Am afraid to book anything in case it is crap! It is his 30th so i'm prepared to spend a good bit of money.

If abroad is better then that may be an option. Don't know where to start looking so even that would help me narrow things down.

    Thanks

it depends on your budget really. I you fly to the UK he could drive an F1 car for about 3500STG, they also have performance car days where you get to drive a ferrari for much less than that.

Over this side of the water you have the mondello racing school and numerous rallyschools. Personally id go with the rallyschool. There is one up north where you get an onboards video of your laps.

Have a search on the motors board, there was a discussion about these recently.

although i used to work in the racing school in mondello, i'd still say go to the rally school! i've only ever heard good things about it. afaik it's in monaghan...
the racing school at mondello is pretty good, dont get me wrong, just i think the rally school is better ;)

well if anyone is interested, one could fly to Italy, and take a Ferrari F1 out on the Maranello track, prob a design within the last three years, and it cost bout €3,000 a lap, a friend of mine did it, said it was brilliant. I know its expensive, but that money works out almost exactly what it costs for an F1 car to do one lap, Tyres... fuel etc..... They put you on Intermediate tyres as for beginners, they are a hell of a lot easier to drive on, as the Intermediates are similar to road tyres as in control. So if anyone can afford it, they should check it out. Surely some of the British based F1 teams do this also, so that would be another option.... Well, not many people can get to say, they drove a Michael Schumacher World Championship Car!!!
