Pasting into Excel from html.....

I am pasting phone numbers from a webpage to an excel file.

The trouble is when I paste into excel I lose all the "0" (zeros) at the start of the number.

    How do I avoid this?

I tried formatting the whole column to text and when I enter it in by keyboard there is no problem.

However when I paste from a webpage it automatically inserts it in as a number so removing the zero at the start.

Paste special works when I paste it as text but there are too many records to do a "paste special" for each.

    Any help?

    Thanks,

    Peter

If you are just pasting into a column then in a cell in a different column then enter a number with a ' at the beginning. copy it and paste special formats to the column where you want to paste the telephone numbers. When you the paste the numbers from the HTML document it will automatically add a ' to the start of the string and not remove the leading zeroes

Right click on the cells, go to Format Cells, then choose Text from the first tab

    should work

Also, excell was doin ye a favour, do ya really need the 00? You could also try a +

    thats the replacement for 00

    eg 0035314512345 = +353114512345

    Format the cells as "Text"

Do not paste (ctrl V) but rather Edit-Paste Special and use the option "text"

When you simply paste you paste everything copied INCLUDING the format.
