issue probably been raised before, however....

thinking of getting laptop, and am wondering if duo processors are a worthy challenger to p4's ?

any advise would be welcome !

    thanks,

Ehh, coreduo cpu's wipe the floor. There are no comparasions in terms of laptops or desktops. Was playing around with 80 of them today and they are quite impressive.

sorry, do you mean no comparison, as in laptops with dual core are better than pcs ?

    also :

thinking of going for the dell xps 1710. seems like good value for money.

anyone own one ? any good ? for games etc ?

some specs : (entry level one)

    Intel® Core™ Duo Proc T2400 (1.83GHz/667MHz/2 X 1MB L2 Cache)

256MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 7900 GS (is this any good? what would be good comparison)

    1GB6 DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHZ, 2 DIMM

never owned a laptop before, and am about to replace my desktop with one, so please comment wisely !! going to pick it up in the USA for about 900 gbp.

The cpu's themselves are great, I'm not a big fan of gaming laptops. I just know laptops were never to be stressed like that.

i got a xps m1710, with a T2500, its a great machine, buy it. it can run pretty much everything with ease, its a massive thing, but the engineering is 2nd to one, a fan on each side to extract the air from cpu/gpu, and them lights...........:D
