Dublin club Cherry Orchard have made the semi-finals of the MILK Cup by beating Otago, Liechtenstein and Bayern Munich en route. That is some achievement for a Dublin Schoolboy side that have no professional status what so ever. They have gone further in the tournament than the likes of Chelsea and Man Utd.

They did it around 3 years ago as far as I remember. They got knocked out of it by Man United. It could have been the final aswel.

They won it in '93, beating Rangers on penos.

It's funny seeing them in the list of winners:

Orchard are a club so may Irish (non eL, actually many eL) clubs should pay attention to. They are very progressive, and with some funding, could help the game in this country. Fair play to them.

They dont need any help at all , they survive quite well and have produced some of Irelands best footballers.

The roll of honour is fairly big, best junior team in Ireland imo at all levels and have been forever and will continue to be.

In my area (South Dublin) getting a trial with them as a kid is an honour

They are trying to build a stand for their senior team.

They had a club house but I think it closed down not so long ago.

They have some of the best under age managers around which is good for Irish soccer.

Very good set up out there

They lost to Rapid Vienna 4-3 on penalties after drawing the game 1-1. It was a great showing from them to do so well. EL clubs should talk a look at how Cherry Orchard conduct their schoolboy setup. They will learn a thing or two.

Cherry Orchard have been at the top for years at school boy level. But not that many of the players stay on to play for senior with them. Home Farm are a another club with a great school boy set up.

Its the fact that they are on top attracts lads from all around to play for them. I know people who travelled from as far as Limerick, wexford, etc. to play for them. Its the complete opposite of Gaa, theres not much loyalty to your hometown, its play for the best team you can.
