I'm off to Barcelona this weekend with 6 other lads. WE will visit all the regular tourist hot spots and arcatecture of the city but I would like to know of any other "activities or places" to go. All the web sites give the same tourist garbage. Is there any sports to do or trails to follow etc.
    All advice or experiences gratefull.

    Try Googling "Lap Dancing Barcelona"

I'm sure if he wants lap dancing barcelona he knows to google that himself.

Don't post a suggestion like that again.

heading there in October as well... can anyone suggest some good clubs/bars

are match tickets easy enuff to get?

do ferries run from Barca to the Balearic islands or do you need to head down to Valencia

There are 2 good clubs ot the top floor of the shopping centre down in Port Veil. And there are a good few around Las Ramblas. There'll more than likely be people down at the statue end of Las Ramblas giving you flyers for a certain bar. One the other end of Las Ramblas, you've got the Hard Rock Cafe.

If you're interested in pub crawls, try the one at the Travel Bar. Let me know if you need directions.

For daytrips, I recommend jst buying a 10-journey ticket, hopping on the metro and seeing where you end up. There should also be loads of threads around here about Barcelona.

One of the nicest places to eat plus its cheeap is a place called
'les quinnes nites' sp?. Its in a small square near the end of la rambla called placa real (not difficult to find)
Its popular with locals so go either early or late - there may be a queue but it moves fast & its worth the wait.

A trip up to Montjuic is worthwhile too as is the helicopter flight around the port.

    Enjoy!

Its easy enough to get tickets for a match once its not a really big match like Madrid. You should have no trouble just turning up though we went the day before just to be on the safe side.

Go to some of the bars on the streets parallell to Las Ramblas.Especially the Black Sheep if you can find it. Pool table, Foosball, Pictchers of quality beer, beautiful women, local and backpackers.
We also ended up in a bar......I don't think it had a name. It was basically a wooden door. It was the darkest dingiest room playing pretty heavy rock music. Not necessarily into music that heavy but had a blast. And the owner invited us back the next night.

If your going to the match go right up to the top and back of Camp Nou. You'll be able to see everything anyway and if you are going to fully appreciate the whole stadium its the only place to be.

Sagrada Famille (sic?) is amazing. The architectecture is amazing. It blew me away. Gaudi was a certifiable genius.

Eat in the food market in the middle of La Ramblas. Try some of the fish stall. The food is awsome and so cheap, 4 fish dinners and 4 large beers, 36 euro. I kid you not. Other than that avoid the restaraunts on La Ramblas. They are a tourist trap rip off.
Some of the restaraunts on Place de Real are fantastic too....Le Cinq Nuit is great, you have to queue outside but its worth the wait or there is another one in the opposite corner. I cannot remeber the name...but best steak I ever had (la palma maybe). And a really cute american head waitress who either thought i was the coolest mutha on the planet or was scared of her life of me. I like to think it was the former. She kinda looked like Selma Blair. Other than that Tapas rule.

I will leave you with two warnings

If you are going to jump into the fountain in Place de Real, don't do it two second before 7 of your mates do it. Their wave will pick you up and throw you out the other side and you will smash your face on the ground. And that hurts....believe me.

Secondly, look out for all the transexual prostitutes unless you are so inclined.
I had that normal feeling of boyish rambunctiousness when one flashed her/his boobs at me, which quickly evapourated when i realised...."Dude...thats a dude"

Barcelona is one of the coolest citys in the world. If you can't have an amazing time there i'm going to track you down and revoke your licence to have fun.
