    Big Season 5 Spoilers Below

So they kill off Palmer in the first few mins - ok thats definitely got my attention. Film directors call it a "shut the fúck up" scene when they want the audience in cinemas to stop rustling around with their popcorn in the opening minutes and grab the audiences attention. They definitely got my attention.

Then they start to piss me off by blowing up the gorgeous Michelle a few mins later. Im thinking "What the fúck??!" and Im glued to the screen - this is the best opening of a TV show since the first episode of Lost Season 2 ... rivetting. But they killed off my favourite 24 babe. The bastárds!

In my head Im putting together a storyline that has Tony team up with Jack to avenge Michelle's death. But alas the writers royally mess it up. They kill off Tony in a way the character didnt deserve (stabbed by the injection he planned to kill Robocop with? Gimme a break ffs) To add insult to the character he's not given a "silent clock" at the end of the show.

We're now left minus 3 major characters next season and the only decent reletionship in all of the show (lets be honest - Jack is a Man-whore ;)) and I cant really see myself that interested in watching it tbh. This is from a viewer that on a few days off has watched seasons 4 and 5 in the space of 2 weeks.

    Wtf were the writers thinking?!

I agree to an extent with you.

Personally I thought Palmer was finished anyway, he wasn't president anymore, did all the heroic stuff, was an absolute legend, but his character got a silly return in s4, and he was running his course. That and the fact that President Logan is a breath of fresh air.

He is convenitely the opposite of Palmer but it worked so well on the show. Therefore I didn't miss him at all.

As for Michelle, again I was a huge fan of her but didn't see the point in her anymore. She loved Tony, then she was fighting with him, then she wasn't etc. It was getting boring.

Now I fully agree on the Tony part, and I reckon what happened was that they decided the fans wouldn't be able to take losing 3 of the biggest characters in the shows history in 20 mins, so decided to keep him on, in a way that was like "Lets write the first 12 episodes and we'll come up with an idea for him". Of course they didn't, so they turned it into a ratings grabber. The scene was sad in parts with Jack crying, but it was over within seconds, and next episode not one word about him, which backs up my point he was never in 24 plans that season, so why keep him?

Does anyone know if it was, y'know, the actors decision to leave the show?? Given Carlos Bernard wasn't all that present in S4, I assumed he wanted to leave. As pointed out, they didn't want to go on a murdering spree in the first few minutes - so drew out his death and let Bernard free from film committments. Killing him off when he seemed to recover was quite a neat little trick - I liked it.

As to the relationships - it's 24! There's no real time for it. Michelle and Tony's was pretty poor by any real drama standards, peppered with arguments and near-death scenes and little else. It grew stale and I've no problem seeing it and them ended.

As to Palmer? He's been redundant since the end of S3. Bullet was good enough for him as any plot line this year would have just been forcing a story for him to fill.

Roll on a fresher season with more culling ('cept for Chloe!)

Totally agree with the above. Tony's days........sorry hours :) were becoming limited in the respect that he had moved on and with Jack coming back, that was enough of a big plotline.
Ofcourse the Jack and Tony duo would of been nice, but again the show is moving on.

    ixoy....Chloe FTW

Plus more Kim please....with less of the clothing.....and possable shower scene. :)
    (Probably even get kidnapped then)
