Irish car prices are rising significantly faster rate than the EU average, according to figures released by the European Commission today.

The commission says Irish prices rose by 1.3% over the past year, compared to an average of 0.8% across the 25 EU member states.

The figures show that Denmark is the cheapest EU country in which to buy a car, while the Czech Republic is the most expensive.

    I'd imagine they're referring to pre-tax prices.

Correct (or wants to be). DK cars have been cheapest pre-VAT for a decade or more (yes, even cheaper than IE pre-VRT and -VAT cars, and not in PauperSpec™ either).
