Now i know the basic rules of the road from general observation throughout my years of being in the passenger seat.
Im just asking what do you think my chances are passing are. ? My friends recon ill do it no bother!

it depends, there are some dodgey questions that you need to have seen, remember, you need to get 35/40 to pass..

So if you get 2/3 of these dodgey questions, you might be in trouble.

you know all your roadsigns? Speed limits? Braking distances?

(also, there is a motors forum...)

before this gets shifted to another forum, ignore the book. Get the trial CD and do it for a couple of hours and you'lll be sorted.

Just go and do the online driving test simulator...
    http://www.irishmotoring.ie/test/index_test_intro.php

I did my theory test a few weeks back and never so much as looked at the rules of the road. 90% of it is common sense and roadsigns. Passed 39/40

I remember doing it a few years ago. Had never driven before and didn't know the rules of the road. Spent 2 or 3 hrs the night before going through the book and a half hour on the drive down to the testing centre. I only got one wrong, I think.

spent ages making sure i got no less than 37/8 on the CD but I was out in less than 10 mins, you have 40 i think. I got 39 and the one I got wrong was a motorbike one; which I have no intention of ever getting on anyway!!!

It's p!ss easy in Ireland... A disgrace IMO... I actually bought the book and studied it! What a waste of time and money... Sat down in front of that touch screen for 2 minutes and I was done. 40/40... WAY too easy...

I think this is what Connundrum was kindly linking to:

I just got 34 out of 35 right on the simulation (got the 50kph braking distance wrong - put in 50 metres instead of 25 metres; still thinking in mph!!!)
