Has anyone flown with Gulf Air on a long haul before. I just booked a flight to Australia, got it one way for E646. Have been reading up on a few reviews and they don't seem great, but I am on a budget so had to take the cheapest I could get really.

Have flown with SAS and Air France long haul before, SAS were great with plenty of room, although Air France was a bit of a tight sqeeuze, no real room to stretch at all. How would Gulf compare against these two for example?

Wow, I remember 20 or so years ago Gulf Air was the best airline around. I had my birthday on a Gulf Air flight and the captain came out with a cake and a wee pressie for me (I was only 7 at the time!). Shame if it's gone downhill.

One recent longhaul experience with them. Theyre not great - but like you, I was looking at the cheapest and will do so again. Some of their aircraft on certain routes are old.
Get yourself some valium and you'll be happy out.:D

hey man valium is the way to go, made sure i picked up some last time i was in bangkok. 150 little blue bad boys (diazepam) for 1000 baht or 20 euro, whichever you prefer. Can't say fairer than that. I reckon i don't care if gulf air stick me in a little cardboard box, knock back 20 or 30 mg of the good stuff and i'll wake up at the other side smiling :-) .... wont know what happened in between

it certainly is the way to go for such circumstances, (long haul flights and crazy bus journeys) if you wanna stay awake after taking some you can and just bereally relaxed, but if you wanna doze off it really is as easy as pie, no matter how uncomfortable you are.

I remember the bus journey once from bangkok to siam reap in cambodia, anyone who has done it will know what i'm talking about......imagine getting some sleep on that, you'd think it was impossible wouldn't you. not with a little help from some of those little blue bad boys.... I was like a rag doll apparently, occasionally waking up every now and again, after falling asleep on some poor girl next to my lap for about 10 hours of the journey. she didn't seem to mind at all though, so it was a win win situation for the both of us. When i woke up, no one could understand how i got any sleep at all. i just sat back a smiled to myself thanking that little pharmacy off koa sarn road for giving me the super sleeping pills.

Yeah me too Skyflyers they called it and you could sign up to the club and you got a membership card and stuff , I also got a cake onboard , they used to use the Tristar aircraft!!! Those were the days!!!

I actually flew Gulf Air a few years back in Business class to Thailand and have to say they were excellent. I have heard that economy isnt too bad they have seat back TV in economy and use the airbus from Dublin. They are better than Aer Lingus anyway!!!

God yeah, Skyflyers, I remember now, there was a booklet too right?! They had the right idea back in those days - take care of the young ones and they'll come back to you in later life. Like drug dealers!

LOL yeah a blue booklet that looked like a passport and your photo in it , each time you flew you got a signature from the Captain!!! Also had a laminated ID card and a magazine was sent twice a year. I remember having my photo in the mag one year!!! Claim to fame..... I still have the booklet and ID card somewhere.....god the memories, thats when it was a real adventure to travel. :):)
