Im looking for a very small case to put my 350D with 17-85mm attached into, I have a proper slingshot bag, but im kinda looking for a glove thing that will just give it a bit of protection while its in a normal rucksack, alot of the things im looking at seem to be quite large and bulky, the closest thing i can decribe it to would be a neoprene laptop case, but obviously in a SLR shape.

    anyone have any ideas?

I think borderfox asked about this yesterday ,there are covers available and someone gave a link to http://www.warehouseexpress.com

theres rubbery sheaths that fit around the camera.

That was more water proof stuff, im just looking for something that will stop it getting scratched while in a rucksack, kinda like this:

Did you try cut up an old wetsuit? Not sure how you'd shape it but it's a idea, just make sure it's been thoroughly rinsed with fresh water beforehand.
If you were handy with a needle and thread you could add some velcro and fancy it up a little.
