    Hi there,

Can anyone give me an idea of the best and easiest web site design software to buy. I'm looking to create a E-commerce site, but would like the ability to design and alter the site myself - this way I can update it as often as I wish.

If wanyone out there has created a similar site then please let me know chich programme you used, and the pitfalls to avoid.

    Thanks

Well assuming you have the basic knowledge of HTML and perhaps CSS. I guess the obvious program to recommened is Dreamweaver! Its ridiculously overpriced but it is the industry standard.

The pitfalls would be a lack of knowledge of HTML and if your site will involve a database and shopping cart I guess it would be good to have some knowledge of the language you would be using for this (php or asp)

Setting up a good ecommerce website is no mean feat.

Actinic is about as good as you will get in terms of a "Program" that will help you. Otherwise its the likes of OS commerce, but you will need a decent amount of knowlege to setup and support it.

They have a free trial IIRC.

Dreamweaver is the ONLY software on the market worth buying but IMO being a designer - get someone to do the site for you, you'll get stuck and will pull your hair out, especially if it's gonna by dynamic becuase you'll have to use ASP, JSP, Coldfusion or PHP or something, along with Access or SQL and then there's the HTML and CSS and the graphics too!

I've been using Frontpage for a few years now and frontpage 2003 is a big step up from the last ones. It does make putting the page together easier (although I haven't used dreamweaver in a long time) until it gets one of it's stupid niggles like not being able to resize a cell.

E-commerce is easy as pie with shopping cart software.
