Just to start off i'd like to point out that this thread isn't directed towards any individual organiser.
But more and more often do we see threads appearing here titled something like this "New €90 Freezeout - 100% PAYOUT"
And on closer inspection its a €90 + €10 reg game. This shouldn't be allowed to advertise as a 100% payout game. I know some game are advertised as "€25 rebuy" and the organisers take a % cut from all the money. But are there ANY events out there that avertise a reg fee and also take a cut from the rest. I really hope not. We have a charter set up so that the various games and be advertsied equally and fairly. These aren't signs in the local trying to trick the drunks into a game or cards.
And every now and again promotional game with NO reg and a legit 100% payout appear, and the uniqueness of these games is reduced by the false ones.
So I propose the following changes to the charter.
    1. Tournaments should not advertise a 100% payout if any of the players money is taken as a cut for another party.
    2. 100% payouts tournaments should not have a reg fee.
    3. For purpose of comparing similar touraments, organisers may include a payout percentage. To highlight a low reg fee to entry ratio. i.e. €90+10reg = 90%, €125+10 = 93%

    All comments and opinions appreciated

As long as all the relevant information is included in the main post I'm happy to let things continue as they are.
It would be tricky to police your suggested changes as it's likely that tourney organisers would argue that say in a 90E+10E reg tournament all of the 90E is going into the prizepool, so technically it's 100% payout. The reg fee isn't to be included in calculations.

I agree that it would be better if everything was clarified from the start but trying to make it so would be a headache imho.

If anyone does see anything shady or not abiding by the charter be sure to report the post or pm one of the mods.

    Hi Mellor,
If theres a tourney advertised as €90 f/out, 100% payout and theres a reg fee of €10,I see absolutely nothing wrong with that. The organiser is telling you that he is running a tournament with an entry fee of 90 euro and he is paying out 100% of the entry fee. He is also telling you that he is charging €10 as a reg fee for his services .I think this is absolutely above board and I dont really see your point. There are still a lot of cowboy operators arouind this country who are charging reg and then raping the prize pools as well. They are the ones that should be highlighted on boards and not trying to pick holes in the genuine promoters who are putting on some great games right across this country .

Oh, and as for "100% payout tourneys should not have a reg fee"", who do you propose should organise these?Do you expect promoters to provide everything for a tourney and give their time for nothing?

Yes loads. I definitely know a few.

To me a 100% payout means 100% of the prizepool and this is perfectly clear. Any reg is separate, doesn't even come into the equation.

I'm surprised we're even having this discussion. As far as I can see there are two ways that a promoter gets paid.....

    1) No reg fee but the promoter takes an agreed/advertised % of all money in.

    2) Promoter charges a set reg fee per person on top of entry fee. In this case I thought it went without saying that the promoter does not take any additional funds from the "entry fee".

I think it's very wrong for a promoter to charge a reg fee and then take a % of the entry fee.

VN tournys are Entry €20 +€5. And one rebuy or top up €20 +€5. All the €20's from entry and rebuy go into prizepool. The €5's are our fee for providing the tourny.

I think i might have been a little unclear. I have no problem with, as somebody described it, a "tourney advertised as €90 f/out, 100% payout" as long as its in the main body text and is clearly describing the details of reg fee.
I was getting at threads with 100% Payout Special Blah Blah Blah as the title. And only true 100% tourneys should use it, as we are in anger of missing these rare promotional tourneys if they don't stand out.
I recall a Vegas Nights thread/tourney a short while ago, in bray i think, that had a 100% payout & no reg fee. These are by no means a weekly occurance, but they should stand out above the rest for being a kind offer from the promoters who organise it for nothing.

Hi Big Slick, if you read the original post, the OP said that he wasn't pointing out any particular tournament organiser as being untruthful in their advertisements. He was just asking about the wording of posts regarding the 100% payout vs entry+reg fee and % taken from the prizepool.

There's no reason for the aggression of your post so you will be banned if it continues.
