Very Basic Questions

As the title says these are probablly very basic questions. My ma has started to use my laptop and she keeps getting confused with all the programmes I have on my desktop. So I created another user account, so when she logs on there will be less stuff on the desktop. But still there is a lot of stuff. How can I take this stuff off her desktop and just have it on mine? Also Windows Messenger keeps opening up when she logs on and asks her for an email address. I know all you have to do is click the X button, but she gets so confused. How do I stop this from starting up when she logs on?

I'd say the most concise way of sorting out the desktop icons would be to use the file manager (explorer.exe / My Computer / Whatever)... have a look around C:\Documents and Settings\ ... from there you should see more sub-folders for the names of each account... pay special attention to the \All Users\ folder, since, as the name suggests, items within \All Users\Desktop\ will appear on the desktops of all users :)
Similarly, \DonnybrookGhost\Desktop\ will be just for you...
You could just move these 'all users' items to your own accounts desktop and leave the all users one empty.
I think it's more straight-forward this way, since it's not always clear which icons or startmenu items belong to your account or to 'all users'.

For windows messenger, just let it load... cancel out of whatever it's prompting you with and leave the main program open... basically what you want is to go into the options and tell it you don't want it loading on windows startup... or... another way is to goto Start >> Run >> msconfig ... and goto the startup tab, unchecking it there.
The first way is just as easy though.
