I'm planning to take a trip up into the Alps for a night or two while I holiday in Nice in September.

I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a nice village or small town to visit that is accessible by bus or train from Nice. I have been looking about and while it's easy enough to find accommodation, it's hard to get info on what the areas are like.

Not looking for much really apart from scenic walks. Any advice appreciated.
