Alternative radio stations/DJs?

A friend of mine suggested I send some of my music to a radio DJ or something of the sort.

I don't really know any alternative DJs in Ireland though.

My music is an eclectic mix of dark rock with some classical instruments and electronica with an ethereal influence, kind of hard to describe, I guess it's a type of "Dark wave" music if anyone knows what that is. I'm not sure if there's a market for it but I kind of like what I've done with it. I'm going to focus more on one idea once I find out what would probably be recieved best. It's just a music project I'm working on, it's done with a guitar and programming on my computer, but I think it'd be nice to see if anyone else likes this sort of thing. It's a little rough cut but I don't think it'd bother people that much, I just want to know if the general idea is of any interest and I think getting it to some DJ could be a good way of doing that, as well as promoting it.

I was wonderring if maybe a list could be put together for other people who want to send their music to them, etc. I'm having trouble googling for anything. English DJs would help a lot too since Ireland can be a bit closedminded when it comes to music these days.

I don't know of any shows that really feature any dark wave stuff. Your best bet for the time being would be to see if this radio show would be interested (I've never listened to it so I don't know if the "extreme metal" tag means that they don't play anything other than extreme metal). Phantom should be returning to our airwaves soon but maybe when that's up and running they'll be interested. Have you released anything or are you these just essentially demos? Most commercial stations will only play stuff that is being marketed and don't really have time for the unsigned artist.

By the way, I wouldn't call Ireland closeminded about music, just Irish radio is :)

My friend claimed she got some stuff on the air, and she's not signed.

I guess I'll have to talk to her again.

I'm not saying it won't happen, I'm just saying it's much harder when you haven't got a label or distributor backing you. Try Pet Sounds on Today FM, I think they play a bit of unsigned stuff.

If it's a little ''rough cut'' it's unlikely to get any air play.
