    1-09 V 0-04.

Solid defensive performance by Laois in very windy conditions at Portlaoise today. Great confidence boost for Clancy to net a great goal on his return after injury. Laois now face Mayo on August 13th.

Mod Edit: No scores in thread title.

You've got to say that Offaly were not at the races today. Laois will need to find more to progress further and certainly improve on the 14 wides.
Look forward to see them against Mayo later in the month.
I thinks its 1915 since they were last in a semi-final!

They were last in the semi-final in 1946. That was the last time they won Leinster before 2003, which only brought them to the quarter final. They last met Mayo in 1936, in the final. A point of interest is that that was the last final in which both teams were trying to win their first All-Ireland. Mayo won it. Laois still await their first All-Ireland. From what I've seen, I don't think that wait will end this year.

That was one of the worst games I think I have ever witnessed. I think I switched from RTE to watch some Rugby league and then switched back 15 minutes later and it was the same score...

Offaly also looked as if they weren't interested in playing football, they just wanted to run into the Laois players with late tackles and other stupid things.

It was very frustrating to watch the amount of running with the ball in hand straight into the opposition players and then losing the ball. Don't think I saw any attacks with fluent passing and support play in that game at all yesterday, which is what was needed in the conditions.

    Snore.

I would agree that it was a god awful game. Offaly again collapsed in the 2nd half but i dont think you can take anything away from Laois. They played very well in the second 35 mins and snuffed out every chance that Offaly made, altho, as was already stated, Offaly didnt seem hugely interested in playing. I think Laois could get past Mayo. By no means is it an easy game for either team and id say it will be very close.

Didn't watch any of the second half then? Did you not see the goal? Laois played excellent football against the wind in the 2nd half, full of fluent passing and support play. While the first half was poorish, Laois played reasonably well but had poor shot selection and execution. Offaly were poor throughout granted, but if you think this was 'one of the worst games I think I have ever witnessed', you're lucky you haven't had to witness some of the drivel that's been on lately - Cork V Limerick, Fermanagh V Donegal, most of the Ulster SFC....
