    Hi,
I'd like to ask people who know for sure what OTE means in a job advert in relation to salary per week, for example OTE 400p.w. What does the OTE mean? I've been told it's Over Time Extra, I'd just like clarification. Would this be 400p.w. INCLUDING overtime, or is it a basic salary to which overtime is available or expected? I'm new to this as have always been self employed!

OTE stands for "On-Target Earnings" and usually refers to a compensation package that has base salary plus commission and/or bonus components

THE COMAPNY SET YOU A TARGET AND PAY YOU FOR REACHING IT. BEAWARE THAT NOT ALL TARGETS ARE EITHER A) ACHIEVABLE OR B) WITHIN YOUR CONTROL

Thanks for the quick replies :)
On Target Earnings... I was rather afraid of that, if it's too good to be true and all that! Thanks again, I won't be wasting my time with that advert :)

Actually I take back that last comment about wasting my time. I think I'll ring them tomorrow to see what other details they'll give me. The ad says full training and company vehicle are provided, which is fine. The only number listed is for a mobile, should that be of concern?

well, if the job is delivery work,
then the boss is probably out all day so a mobile would be normal.

    ring them and find out.

glad i read this! always assumed that it meant "over time excluded", i.e. that you would get overtime on top of the basic salary quoted. Every day is an educational day on boards.ie!
