Winrar just recently won an award for "Best Overall Utility" and to celebrate, is giving out a free license to be used with version 3.51 (non-upgradeable)

To avail, first download and install Winrar 3.51 http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm

Then visit this link. After completing the form, you will receive an email with a link to a rar file. When you run the rar file it will activate the license.

    Thanks for that!

Though the second link seems to be under pressure at the moment I get a MySQL error about too many connections at the moment.

This offer will be valid on Sunday July 28, 2006 from 00:00 until 24:00 CET ONLY.

Appears someone forgot to turn off the promotion!

When you download the rar'd key open it with notepad and you get:
    RAR registration data
    PCA Special Offer
    Version: 3.51
Im pretty sure you can change "PCA Special Offer" to you own name, save and it should work.

On a side note...never knew they were located in Bremen....worked there a couple of years ago!

I don't see the big deal. I've been using the latest version of WinRAR for free for years and will continue to do so.

Yes of course it does but you can enter a registry code for any piece of software without paying for it.

Presumably the promotion is not aimed at cheap gits.

I'm not cheap. It's logical not to pay for something if you can get away with it and no one will know especially when it's a victimless crime. Have you never broken a red light, the speed limit or crossed the road when the light wasn't green?

    TBH, Yes you are.

So you try to shoplift all the time then?

It's not a victimless crime. Winrar pay software developers money. Actual cash.

The two scenarios are not equivalent. Do not promote warez monkeying on this forum please.

This thread has run its course. I'm closing it.
