Angus McBean photographs

    I have acquired some Angus McBean photographs (copies) they belonged to my late father-in-law who had had them years.

    They are 3 large framed pictures each one has 3 photographs mounted in it, ie 9 photographs in total. Each framed pictures measure 33x17 inches and each portrait inside is 9.5x8 inches. They show Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, Lawrence Olivier, Margot Fontane, Marlene Deitrich, Spike Milligan plus others I am not sure of, one with 2 guys up to their heads in sand and an ostrich ? The originals are currently showing at the National Portrait Gallery in UK I believe.

    Where would I find out if these items I have are of any value or is it worth selling them on Ebay perhaps and hoping a collector is interested? Any advice would be most welcome, even if they are common place and worth nothing.

    Thanks Julie

    What Fino said.

    If they are signed, worth a LOT, if not, then not as much.

    Can you show them?

    they don't appear to be signed at all, I have photographed them and emailed them to my Mum who identified most of them. How do I put a photo from my computer on here ??

    I'd reckon on about €200-400 each if signed but a lot less than that since they arent.

    Try Christies rep in Ireland;

    These are some of the unknown photographs, not sure they are, if anyone can help on that front I'd be grateful. I did find info about the 2 guys in the sand but I can't relocate it online now which is annoying. National Portrait Gallery is exhibiting origianals and their website was down so perhaps it was there.

    I'll try taking them out of the frames and see if there is any more info I can find on them. would have thought signatures would be visible on the front. Will check out the auction websites. Might put them on Ebay if not signed, bound to be someone who collects Angus McBean stuff.

    They only look blue due to the light conditions by the way.

    Thanks again
