Successfully opening a temporary wormhole from pegasus to the milky way which would allow all wraith easy access to a new feeding ground.

Best episode yet this season though!!

    ok ok ok

    1. it is powered by a black hole so really can remain open indefinitly as said in the episode

    2. the wraith dont know about it
    3. it is right next to a black hole(unlikley anyone would try to go through it)
    4. even if they did and did get through it only a wraith dart could get through
    which are easily defeated
and if not the ori would take them out in a second

so i dont see any bad points on the gate from pegasus to milkyway being open

and the i hope they find the anti ori weapon

but will not find it soon to help to story go along

Great episode and a huge improvment over last weeks. The interaction with the cool Atlantis team was great and lack of the uncool ones even better lol. More of this quality is needed :)

10/10 one of the best single episodes in a long time. all the other good ones have been 2 parters

A cross-over that worked excellently. All the featured characters had a proper role to play, despite the fact there was twice as much as normal.

Vala worked well with Daniel and I enjoyed the whole Ancient-as-hologram moment. I also liked how Morgan-Le-Fay was dragged back to answer for her interference - if the same happened to Oma Desala, then it's good to see this continue even if it shows how frustrating they are. I also liked the touch back to Daniels' Ascension days.

In the other plot, I quite liked the Supergate piece. Sure, it was maybe a little bit of a stretch to destroy a Wraith ship and an Ori ship in one go, but it really looked nice and symbolic for this cross-over. Slotted in very well.

No complaints whatsover this week although I am wondering is "A Matter of Time " now the most referenced episode-ever? They never shut up about dialling into that black hole :)

Keep up this standard and I'll be begging for Season 11!

    What more can you say...
Quite an enjoyable episode and any episode with mckay in it automatically gets 5/10, from me ;)

After that, the story line was kind've slow and I was a little worried but the humour kept it going nicely.

For some reason I was expecting Morgane le Fay to step in and destroy the ori ship/gate/wraith ship or at least 1 of the 3.

Anyway, good episode, keep it coming.

very good episode, realy enjoyed after last weeks snooze fest :D
i really like the way they handled the crossover, well executed.
mckay and the almost naked carter dream, lol.
i think amanda tapping just managed to hold a straight face.
the way they stopped morgan was the same way they stopped daniel
when he tried to destroy anubis, nice continuity.
and the ending, destroying the two ships was pure class.
    more of this please. ;)

Excellent episode, a far better cross over than expected, nice to see McKay and Carter getting along jolly as ever and the whole episode was paced very well, I find a lot of the more important (storyline) stargate episodes tend to move quite slowly and then make it all happen in the last 5minutes, this time it all moved along nicely the whole episode. More episodes of this caliber, good to see the team hasnt lost it.

Excellent Ep. Does that mean all that go near the super gate experience a time dilation? Does that mean they can go through that gate from the Peagus galaxy? Tealc is some sneaky bastard, blowing up that Ori ship. Nice to see it all come together. Great Ep -more please

I liked this episode a lot.... top marks.

What I liked best was that they did an Atlantis crossover without Teyla or Ronon... :)

I guess you missed the part where they said it would move closer into the black hole if they used a larger yield explosive

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 527 ✭✭✭madmike18

yes it did move closer but is now stopped and is not moving again

but because of the time diealation

it would take years for it to to go into the black hole

    and besides

they could try and do it again and it would more then likley would work

Good episode - crossover allowed the freshness that Atlantis has to give a bit of life to the almost moribund SG1 .
It was also helped by a clean logical narrative.

great ep.. really enjoyed it, but with a really dubious ending.

i can imagine stephen Hawking swearing at his tv watching the science take place.

but as long as i dont think about the facts too much, this was a fantastic episode.... as i said, i really enjoyed it, and that matters more than science i guess.

With the fall of the ratings for both series, nice to see they could always go for joining the two series together flawlessly. Really spice up the series. But maybe thats just me being crazy.
Although, i did find colonel Mitchell, and Major Sheppard a bit too similar.

Ok in the atlantis episode they were harvesting gates to make a chain of them from pegasus to the milky way because it was impossible to open a wormhole from pegasus to the milky way without a ZPM. Did i miss something? they said establishing initial connection..... ok thats done. No ZPM no nuke no nothing. Looks like that rule does not apply to sg1 god bless them. Bar that, very fun episode.

Also they are wearing the same uniform's their quasi evil versions wore in 09x13 - Ripple Effect. Maybe something about cutting the green wire will come up at last.

The initial connection was powered by the black hole, similar to the super gates.

but they can send jumpers through whenever they want now but since we dont know the strgenth of the time dialation field once the jumper enters the field it could take them 4 months to reach the gate instead of 4 seconds so travel might not be viable

BTW i had a nice dream where about 13 hive ships banded together and sent all there hives through at the same time

take no notice of my poor vote, i thought this was the atlantis episode thread :o great episode, hope it keeps going.

Brialliant episode, heh i was lol when Rodney told Sam about the halucination episode, cause i was thinking of it about 20 seconds before he told here! :D

Heh, Teal'c took down an Ori ship all by himself (technically) ;)

Really good episode, shows that SG1 can still pack a punch, hope it continues like this...roll on the return of O'Neill!

The bit where Daniel Jackson says something along the lines of "We know one thing, the ancients aren't going to help us" makes me think that they are trying to fade the ancients out now so that they can come help later in the series when things are *really* sh*t.

Definitely a great episode, I liked SG1 on Atlantis. Thought that having the two lead O'Neill type charachters on the same set/episode was somewhat confusing at times though, lol.

The black SG uniform has been around for years.
Well it was definatly in season 8 anyway.

I loved this episode, easily one of the best of the season and not just because of the cross over. It was also just bloody well written.
It did have some flaws though-
    Vala was still mouthing off.
Some of the dialogue between the two teams seemed forced and cheesy (the briefing room scenes for example)
    No Teal'c in Atlantis.
Everyone just waltzing around the bridge throwing orders and comandeering consoles...it irritates me.

    But the best bits-
The start, with the team looking out at Atlantis.
The second Daniel copped Morgans trick.
The return to stories involving the Ancients.
The Ori ship getting it's **** ruined.
Succesfully dialing out on the Supergate.
The morbid ending...it was bad, in that it was depressing to hear the Ancients won't do anything, but great for the sake of the Ori threat.

Excellent episode - I especially liked the bit where Jackson gets p1ssed off at the Ancient - it showed he was getting a bit fu*ked up with them.

Vala was still a nuisance (no surprise there). McKay, whether he is on SG-1 or Atlantis, is excellent. :D

I thought it unusual, though, that when the Odessy moved closer to the black hole their voices seemed to speed up and become clearer (when communicating with teal'c) - I would have assumed it would have been the other way round.

Where was Landry, I never seen the chief handle messages like that (on his own) before. Still a quality episode - probably one of the best in the last 2 seasons, IMO.

McKays special power: threat of Lemon Peril...excellent :D

Unfortunately it stands that there isnt a lot they can do with the Pegasus connection:

    1. Gravity well: will have by now spread around the SuperGate. As we learn in MoT (so often referenced, it gets its own ACRONYM) Teal'c would have had time to leave the area before severe dilation occured.

For the same reason of dilation: sending a jumper through would probably take a relative month anyway. So not to mention the inherent risk, its still not viable, as its slower than Daedelus.

    2. The Size: Darts and puddle-jumpers. Woot.

    3. Communication: Great idea to spare Atlantis the ESB bill would be to use the P.Project gate to communicate with earth..but again..time dilation. yay. Not to mention the SuperGate is still so far out that comms relay is still needed.

rant done. But SpaceBridge...I liked that idea.

PS. Odessy getting closer to Teal'c? Surely, you have seen MoT, and know very well what effect relative-distance has on relative-dilation...It was explained dozens of times throughout MoT, and is common sense...kinda.

Conclusions: The Ancients twist really won this episode; its been the driving concept of Stargate since 'The Fifth Race', and I'll never grow tired of it...I hope.
