Do you do anything for charity?

I mean regularly and maybe with one particular charity. If you don't already help a charity but had to pick a one, what would it be?

a lot of charities are shíte.
most of the people you see on the street get paid commission.
(you know the big cheery types who want you to sign up?, next time ask them do they get paid, or are they actual volunteers...)

I would buy extra lunch sometimes and give it to homeless people.
And more stuff that I won't say because of the personal nature involved.
Small things like that, more than organised charity tbh.

SSF ftw. (a bit early) :) I give money to a certain childrens hospital who make sure that no child is turned away if they need treatment regardless of the family's ability to pay.

Why should they be volunteers? Why should people who work for charities accept low wages or no wages? They should be payed frickin' WELL!!
Sorry, but this is a bit of a sore spot with me, it really bothers me!

I used to have standing orders to Barnardos, Oxfam and Concern but had to cancel them all when I became a poor student again. So another year or so before I can resume!

I did charity work in Bolivia for a month!
And I went on a class trip in 4th year to Zambia where we brought almost £1300 (punts) of medical equipment.
I wonder where Im going on holidays next year..........:D

Im too broke to donate to charities though. I give money to street beggars, although Ive been advised thats something you shouldnt do?

If you are giving to charity and you give €21 or more per month (€252 pa), the charity can claim back tax so that they get €420 in total.

Not sure how it works but all registered charities are eligible for this.

Far better to pick one charity and donate like this to them

I shaved my head for Heart Children Ireland back in April, on the last day of college. That was a laugh.

I also give a little per month to a few charities, nothin' special really.

Little enough... It probably won't keep me from going to Hell anyway!:D

I walk past Chuggers all the time. Best thing to do for any Charity is to wake em up to this.

Overseas and have to pay USA taxes. They allow up to $1,000 USD tax write-off for donations to IRS qualified charities. I donate to one scholarship fund that allows disadvantaged but bright female students to attend university.

I sponsor 2 children with World Vision (one from Tanzania, one from swaziland), and I give e10 a month to Central Remedial Clinic. Plus I do the Mini-Marathon each year for Irish Cancer Society (both parents died of cancer).

The new Ronan Keating "fragrance" was released today. Apparently all proceeds go to some charity his misses set up. Does anyone know what this charity is about?
