DID are doing a deal on Free to Air Satellite systems (Ref. p.5 Irish Times, Fri July 28).
It's a Triax with some kind of decoder included. Can't say if it's a single or quad LNB

Anyone know is this a good bargain/ good equipment?

If you offer more information, I could tell you. I don't have todays IT.

What's the price, and what's included? I'd imagine the LNB to be single.

I'd say its a standard FTA box.
I'd also like to hear the price.

If it's just a standard FTA receiver and dish, then it's not great value though OK I suppose for Bricks & Mortar shop.

Corksat.com offer a 80cm dish and FTA box for 108eur. Dunno what delivery costs are like though.

Seem to be about €14 for up to a 30kg box, so it'd be €122

The DID deal is still quite good though for the "High Street"

    What make is the box?

Is it just a bog standard FTA box?

I called out to DID today. Needless to stay they're all sold out and the staff (Stillorgan) have no idea of the technical side of the deal. They couldn't even say what was in the box!

So can't say the quality of the equipment, though the dish is a black mesh type 80cm model. The LNB is of the single type but presumably the buyer could source his own double or quad at a later stage if necessary.

Has anyone a feel for what type of gear is good and what's to be avoided if we do find out what's on offer.

www.satellite.ie also do FTA systems. Some good info on their website.

Also for more info you could check out the satellite forum on boards - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=55

Should get all the info you need from the folks on there.

Off topic - but what's the difference between these mesh dishes and the solid ones?

They're lighter obviously but inferior performance?
