Upgrading my camera bag

    Folks,
I bought the Slingshot 200 six months ago, and, well I just don't like it. Sure it's got plenty of handy pockets, but I hate the zip compartment thingy and....well I just don't like it. I'm happy to use it, but I'm going to need more space in the near future, so I'll gladly look for something a little larger.

    I currently have:
    • Nikon D70
    • Nikkor 18-100mm
    • Nikkor 70-300mm
    • Nikkor 50 1.8mm
    • Sigma 10mm-20mm

These all fit in the bag ok
    My intended purchases include:
    • Speedlite SB 600 (next week)
    • I'll want to buy a macro lens at some stage
    • I'll also want to get a mini tripod too.

I'm find this website very helpful as it has real photographers reviews and photographs.

I think I'm going to stay away from Lowerpro this time too, as they seem a tad pricey for all they are. I'm leaningtowards Tamrac at the moment actually.
Any recommendations for a shoulder bag at all, or any decent makes which isn't Lowepro?

    Steve.

P.S. Unfortunately Shrimp, I don't know of any hoodies which would handle my 70-300mm. Hope you don't feel left out.

I went with the Loewpro stealth reporter in the end, top-openable, lots of lens capacity, takes a 20d with 10-20 sigma lens attached and battery grip+ tripod attachment sitting in the main compartment, then in addition room for about 4/6 other lenses if your ok putting em one on top of the other in the corner compartments of the bag. Plus the usual pockets and compartments for notebooks, cf cards, cdr's etc etc

It also has 2 all weather compartments tucked away like parachutes, one for the top only and one for all over for heavy rain.

Ahem - didnt read the no lowepro condition there - in that case - uh - nope cant think of any. :)

Everyone except me seems to love the Crumpler bags about these days...

Tamrac have some pretty handy bags too.

I agree with you with the Lowepro price issue. Obviously they're expensive for a reason, but still... :(

Only one I'd be interested in is the big ass Dryzone bag!!!

You can get Lowepro from ebay.com for very good money. Have a look, seriously

I've a lowepro nova 5 for holding lots of stuff, it can fit a 50E with a 24-85 attached ,350D with grip and a 30mm attached ,70-200 F4 ,10-20 ,blower ,430 Flash ,extension tubes and then theres all the surrounding pockets.
It doesn't feel like a big bag and it's comfortable .

I agree with fajitas ,the crumpler bags have more flavour and are nice colours .

    i love beer

and thats whats keeping me from getting anything in the near future!!

i got a lowepro 200 and it's not really the thing for me coz i gotta leave stuff at home or in the car - bottom line it's not roomy enough for a lot of stuff... :)
