    So i was driving on a public road for the first time yesterday, did my first lesson. went perfectaly, accept at every junction i was coming up to, the driving instructer that was with me got me to slow down to about 5 mph for the last 20 meters before the junction, just wonderin will i get done for this in the test or is this how it should always be done?

    I'd say he was just being careful, given that it was your first time on the road. That said, if you're ever wondering about something it's absolutely no harm to ask the instructor at the end of the lesson.
