No , have a foreign reg makes you completely untrackable to the Irish police force. There is no such thing as exchange information between the police forces of different countries. :D

Sorry if that sounds harsh, the question just seems a bit, well, stupid tbh.:)

you mean to say that the PSNI and the gardaí dont exchange information?

    Thats Bull,

They wont be able to put points on ur licence but they'll be able to get some info on ur reg plate

(i now know that that was probably sarcasm ;))

First of all, don't go getting all offended, i didn't call you stupid, just said it was a bit of a stupid question.

Is it not kind of obvious that two different countries police forces, let along two countries that have touching boarders, would have some kind of information exchange program....and that this situation may have come up in the past?

More common sense than knowledge don't ya think? ;)

Well it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that the Gardaí could just ask the PSNI for info on the car/owner. I doubt it's a new phenomenon cars crossing a border into other territories, I'm sure they have some procedures in place for information sharing with regard to such....

no bother dragan....chill pill taken (I get terribly offended when my intelligence is insulted) :):)
I suppose what I meant is how difficult is it for the gardai to trace. Someone crashed into the back of me and drove off but we got the reg and make of car and I was just wondering how much effort the gardai would put in to locate the driver thats all

It would be very, very easy for them to do. Maybe a bit of a delay simply because they would need to reques the info from the PSNI but it should be nothing major.
