Does anyone live in this area? It says it takes ten minutes on the bus into town but I would be wary of that so it would nice if someone could tell how long it takes them to get to O Connell Street on the bus or the train to Pearse Street. How much is an average taxi into town? What are the local shops etc?

According to the DTO Journey Planner is is 7.5km to Pearse St. Maybe with all the lights going your way you'd make it to Pearse St in 10mins (at a stead 45km/h).

See Irish Rail's site for train times - it looks to be around 23 minutes.
The local shops are nearby, beside the Breffini Inn.

I get the bus from Blanchardstown to Trinity College (via Hanlons Corner & North Quays) every morning. The bus takes more than 10 minutes even in the summer to get from Navan Road (beside The Halfway house) to Trinity. Train would take you 10 to 15 minutes to get to Connolly Station from Ashtown Station.
