Job driving me nuts....!

I really need some advice! Bit of a long one, so apologies.

I've been in my job over a year now - about 14 months. I originally joined a small telecommunications company, working part-time, just as a stopgap or whatever.

It was a customer services position, 20 hrs a week or so. To cut a long story short, a sister company (run by the same guy) was set up and the opportunity arose for me to stop doing customer services and do some design work for em. This was totally outta the blue and I was pretty pleased to be doing something I enjoyed for a living!

I'm earning 11 euro an hour and I do all sorts of design stuff - web design, desk top publishing, photoshop stuff, branding etc. I've done a few multimedia courses, picked up some decent qualifications and I'm pretty much a jack of all trades in that area. The thing that's starting to grate with me though, is that in addition to the multimedia stuff, I'm still expected to chip in quite a bit for the telecoms company. I answer the phones, deal with customers who drop into the office, phone up clients, research info on the net for em and all this while I'm in the middle of trying to put a website together or design a booklet or whatever!

I really feel like I'm being messed about. Getting paid 11 euro an hour as a designer, while at the same time running around for the telecoms side of things. I'm going home exhausted and depressed at the end of the day.Should I just leave?

First off, you should do some research. Look at the jobsites and come with a (reasonable) estimate of what you would get paid for the work that you do. If the jobs give salaries, then just use the 37.5 hour week figure to determine the hourly rates.

Bring the figures to your boss and ask for a pay rise. If they refuse, leave.
