Did the car get washed ashore or did he drive it illegally (asuming access by public roads) to the beach?

It's a public place so you could still be charged with dangerous driving.
It doesn't have to be a road.

Yes without an accompanied driver or 'L' plates.

Doing U-turns on a beach not a public road but a public area, potentially dangerous, driving without a valid license well, a bit naughty and no L-plates well what's the world coming to?

I'd be more worried (but not a lot) about the recent negative publicity about all the 'driving' on the beach and expect the authorities will put the foot down and draw a line in the sand before someone gets killed. Expect they'll need a scapegoat to calm things down a little and no license is a red flag to curb the hassles.

I'd asy at worse an endorsement, could prove expensive (insurance wise) and not good for L-drivers etc

    without a valid license

I think he meant without a valid accompanied licence holder.

When I see this kind of thread I wonder about how true Darwins theories are.

Road Traffic Acts apply to public places rather than public roads. The foreshore is always going to be a place where the public have access as of right, and as such a public place.

Not sure how drawing a line in the sand with their foot will stop people driving on the beach. :D I'll be off now.

your friends a bit of a muppet aint he . dose he not know what doing that sort of thing on a beach of all places can do to his car his parents / dealership should remove his car for lack of respect to it honestly

as for asking what can he expect .. well unless hes actually been given a summons for the charges its all very iffy

I would massively hope that the police officer keep to his word and do something to get your dick of a friend off the road, let alone the beach.

Let me guess,he was caught on dollymount strand. - The new cruise area for muppets in micras.

A group of us met with gaurds last week discussing modified cars and the likes, the particular seargent was telling us about people being caught acting the maggot at stuff like this (Dr dre being one of them!)

He said that any cases that had been brought to court had seen charges of dangerous driving with bans of around 6 months

So he pulled a bit of a handbreak turn on a beach, so what? A bit of craic, im sure he didnt do it amongst the middle of a crowd of people. Ffs, is there anything ye dont whinge about. I bet ya the nerds giving out about lads pulling the odd handbreak at the beach wouldnt even know how to perform one. get a life ppl, ffs. Pity the guards arent so good at catching burgulars and skangers roaming streets, but sure that might be a bit like real garda work

Aye, the beach handbrake turn is one of the more advanced car maneuvers around. Not something you're gonna pick up first go, you'll need to take some advanced training before even attempting it, else you run the risk of just performing a regular turn :(

A cursory glance at F1 and you will find most of the quick drivers are nerds :)

Aside from that, some of these idiots manage to roll their cars by digging the wheels into the sand while doing said "handbrakers bud"

Thats said, its not excactly challenging, took my wife a whole of two attempts to nail it. Heel\toe and four wheel drifts however, might be a "little" more difficult.

At the OP its sounds like the Garda is doing anything about it. Sounds like a proverbial slap on the wrist.

you wont get done on the spot for that. it'd be a summons in the post. and muupets tearing up the each are wrecking it and they are the same muppets that are tearing around housing estates where kids are playing so with a bit of luck he will get done. tosser.

Have to laugh at this, you would think that you couldnt **** up a hand brake turn on the beach but yet some of theese muppets do **** up and end up doing a regular turn, or getting half way round and cutting out.

Or rolling the car as someone mentioned, I've seen someone do that, up onto their side in an old sierra on a beach in bray, now thats comedy! :D

i seen a muppet try it in a toyota land cruiser, then when my mate stopped him he was all (in a D4 accent) "whats the problem gaurd?"
Muppet nearly rolled it twice. I would have stood there infront of him and pointed and laughed so loud at him if he did roll it.
