    Is this quinsadence,hoax or prophesy?
A construction worker in Ireland unearthed an ancient book of Psalms while digging in a pete bog.The book is said to be 1000 to 1200 years old.The book was open to Psalm 83,in which God hears complaints of other nations wanting to destroy Israel. Is this a hoax, quinsadence or fullfilled prophesy? You be the judge. The sad thing I see in this is that certain fundamentalist will view this find as fullfiled prophesy or a sign from God like the Virgin Mary images you here about.
    Well here is.
Psalms 83:A Prayer for the Destruction of Israel's Enemies
O God, do not keep silent; be not quiet, O God, be not still. See how your enemies are astir, how your foes rear their heads. With cunning they conspire against your people; they plot against those you cherish. "Come," they say, "let us destroy them as a nation, that the name of Israel be remembered no more." With one mind they plot together; they form an alliance against you- the tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, of Moab and the Hagrites, Gebal, Ammon and Amalek, Philistia, with the people of Tyre. Even Assyria has joined them to lend strength to the descendants of Lot. Do to them as you did to Midian, as you did to Sisera and Jabin at the river Kishon, who perished at Endor and became like refuse on the ground. Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna, who said, "Let us take possession of the pasturelands of God." Make them like tumbleweed, O my God, like chaff before the wind. As fire consumes the forest or a flame sets the mountains ablaze, so pursue them with your tempest and terrify them with your storm. Cover their faces with shame so that men will seek your name, O LORD. May they ever be ashamed and dismayed; may they perish in disgrace. Let them know that you, whose name is the LORD-that you alone are the Most High over all the earth.

Link to the Associated Press story on the bog manuscript dated 25 July, 2006.

What an incredible find. A manuscript of any type from the time period would be just as remarkable as this book of psalms, or whatever else it might contain. It is interesting that the only text they can currently read is the 83rd psalm, given current events.

The expert on manuscripts at Trinity College, Bernard Meehan, was quoted as saying that it was the first discovery of an early Irish medieval document in 200 years.

Lostexpectation - where in God's name did you copy that and who did you copy it from? The book is very fragile and turning the pages is a mamoth task. I can also find no mention of Isreal in any news reports on this find. Its also probably , more than likely most deffo be in Irish so whoever translated that within a week of finding it and got the story out before anyone has had a chance to look at it........

Looking forward to seeing it online and eagerly await any more bog finds :D

I found it somewhere it's not my opinion, news reports did mention it was opened at Psalms 83:, which is as above I presume...

As skeptical as I was as well, this is true, it's reported everywhere in the media I could find that it was in fact opened at Psalm 83, and they can't open another page until after conservation work. Aisteach ar fad.

well actually this being the latin version pat wallace has corrected people that the latin version of psalm 83 doesn't refer to Isreal its psalm 84 as opposed to the king james english version.

sorry to disregard you originally Lostexpectation. Even if it isn't the same Psalm (through a technicality) its very coincidental to say the least.

    edit:me gimp

If you mix up all the words and letters of the psalm in this bog book it is revealed that Grimes is the son of the anti-christ and that he wears dresses on his night off...

Back on topic before I incur the wrath of another Mod... I wonder if there will be any more finds in the area where this Ms turned up... a nice book shrine or chalice for instance...

I am sure they will be busy looking. How much was actually found? Reports seem to be everything from a few pages to a whole book.

From what I have gleaned it is a psalter. This usually includes all the psalms and maybe some devotional prayers or other extracts from the Bible.

There have been more finds in the area where the psalter was found. A leather carrying pouch amongst them.
