Airport Parking vs Street Parking

Maybe someone can advise me on this - I am going away for a 2 weeks this thursday - coming up from down the country. I have no-where to leave my car for while I'm away except the long-term carpark at Dub airport which costs E8.50 per day. I was just wondering if anyony knew of any alternatives such as on-street parking somewhere in the relative vicinity. I was also thinking of parking off-street in city centre and getting airlink in - as the clamp charge will actually be less than airport fee. Does anyone know if they tow your car if it's sitting there clamped for a number of days?

Fair play to Bluetonic I say!

After all, it would seem you registered here purely for the purpose of getting the same advice.

Now stop being such a cheapskate and pay for your parking like any sensible lemon!

chamar: he's got a point, just pay the cost of the long-term parking or use http://www.quickpark.ie/, parking illegally shouldnt be an option and odds are they will tow your car and you will end up paying a hell of a lot more to get it released once it has been towed.

I may just have to do that......I have no problem with that advice......nor have I any intention of breaking the law (i was more curious re. clamping).....I just don't appreciate the previous posts.....i can't use public transport because i'llbe stranded overnigt.....i'm not jetting off to some resort but visiting an old relative recently bereaved.......I'm coming from outside dublin....€150 is A LOT of money to me.....and if there were somewhere - even far away from the airport I could park for free without disturbing anyone then why not ask if someone knew? I don't understand the hostility.....but those posters can drop dead anyway.

    €6 per day at Quickpark

Yes and there is a daily compound fee for each day it remains unclaimed.

Oh dear, we've got Eva Braun on here writing letters now as well??? You call that harrassment? I'd say you complain after watching an episode of "Home & Away". Hopefully you'll get hit by a Dublin bus in the morning.....

I get your point - it's a huge amount of money to pay €8 a day... ask your friends if they know anyone who might let you park in their driveway in dublin and give them a present for it perhaps. It's a valid question. People get very carried away on here sometimes :)

On AAM you would be so afraid to make a comment like that. They are all stuck up their own asses over there. All hail Clubman and his ilk. You would swear that site was run by a bunch of solicitors.

You have come here specifically to get free advice and then cop an attitude when you don't get what you want, grow up. You won't last long here if you keep posting replies like those.

You could always try finding restriction free street parking somewhere on one of the local bus routes from the Airport. Santry/Swords/Malahide etc.

There are even a few restriction free spaces around the city centre but I have no intention of telling you where they are, there is enough competition for them without publicising their location on boards.

Oh, if you do try parking in a suburb for two weeks don't blame me if you car is stolen, broken into or set on fire by the time you get back.

Indeedy John, I know of the location of a few of these. Knowledge is power as they say.

Quite. There is also DCC to consider, they have been doing a good job of eliminating the spaces over the last few years.

I wouldn't go leaving my car on-street for two weeks, chances are it will be broken into or vandalised. Quickpark are €6 a day but it can be difficult to get a space as they are very busy. It's not that much, €84 for the week, you could easily spend that on public transport getting to/from the airport.
