Is there a standard way or do you just take out the battery for a wee bit and reinsert it?

Yes removing the battery for a few hours will do the trick and some motherboards come with jumpers which can be used to clear the settings, allowing them to be reset (refer to the motherboard manual for this one).

Just pop out the battery. Its not difficult and it's about as simple as it gets.
