But what is the difference in the 168-pin DIMM FPM, EDO, PC66, PC100 and PC133? And does it matter which you install with respect to the motherboard? As in it doesnt matter if you install a PC100 on a motherboard that had a PC66 installed previously?

There's at least 9 different physical sizes of PC RAM I know of for starters, e.g. only PC66/100/133 SD-RAM is 168-pin, not anything else (FPM and EDO are both older types of RAM).

PC100 might not work if the motherboard only accepts PC66 - I think that may be true for some earlier PII systems. Either that or (a) it'll work and it will run at the faster 100MHz speed or (b) it'll work but will be downclocked to 66MHz (which is fine).

I hope you didn't pay anything for such old manky RAM ;)
