He's been mentioned a bit on 2+2, apparently he turned pro in the last couple of months. I'd say he's a good player who is running really well.

Jesus christ, thats some first world series for him anyone, I wonder how much of his success is due to good variance...

I think he's cheating. In fact after watching the trailer for the new movie Aces I'm convinced of it.

Its just a phase the kid is going through. He'll snap out of it.

Ha ha. I bet he makes all you young guys feel old.:)

Here's a thread from 2+2 that you might find amusing...

Best Tournament Player of all time

  • Subscribers Posts: 32,864 ✭✭✭✭5starpool

I have only read the first few posts but the guy who posted the topic following it up with posts such as this one about why Ivey shouldn't be in the poll because he doesn't play tournaments......

"OK, well, I can believe maybe he won some tournament in Monte Carlo, but who cares about that, I've never even heard of it so no way is it a prestigious tournament. If this poll was for greatest poker player, Ivey would be high up there because he is really high up there among great cash games players (along with other cash games legends like Chip Reese, David Sklansky, Todd Brunson, John D'Agastino and Jennifer Harman), but I do not really think he is a tournament player."

Is David Sklansky a cash game legend? And Jennifer Harman? And Todd Brunson? Interesting.

the p1ss is being pulled from so many angles its hard to know who are the targets (the posters, the readers, tournament poker, tournament poker players)

    best post is

Phil Hellmuth -- We might have a winner, folks. A couple days ago Ivey said that nobody plays every hand perfect, except Phil Hellmuth. I mean, a lot of people think Ivey is the best player around, and he says Phil Hellmuth plays ever hand perfect. Plus, the guy is a 9 time Hold em champion. Plus he won the heads up tournament. He's the only guy who doesn't need any luck to win. In fact, if there weren't luck involved, he'd probably win every one. I heard some guys talking at Wendy's, and they said that Phil Hellmuth will probably win 20 bracelets in his life. That's a lot of bracelets. He's basically Superman. He can dodge bullets. He has X-ray vision into people's souls. When this guy is in the zone, it's like when Jordan said he thought the rim was "a big old, huge bucket."

Are they not the best kind?

Also if anyone has read any of El D's stuff then it'd be obvious it was all very tongue in cheek, he's one of the most respected posters on 2+2... what suprised me most is the amount of posters with over 2k posts who didn't get it straight away.:confused:

he's now in first place with 64 left in the stud hi/low split event (and first by a decent amount of chips too). that's probably going to be another final table at least for him. unbelievable. i hate him so much..

meh, i wouldn't be surprised to see him win another 10. he's probably got another 30 years or whatever left in him. that's only 1 every 3 years. its not that outrageous.
